LIVE YOUR LIFE

COVID-19 brought sudden and widespread fear as the world faced an unknown, fast-spreading virus. Streets emptied, businesses shut down, and daily life came to a halt. People isolated in their homes, worried about their health and loved ones. The world paused—jobs were lost, schools closed, and uncertainty filled every corner. Life as we knew it changed overnight, leaving behind a deep sense of vulnerability, global unease, and lots of Grief! I was in junior high when COVID hit in March 2020. Everyone was isolated to their homes, workplaces shut down, hospitals crowded, healthcare professionals exhausted, they put fear in all of us. As months went on they kept telling us to stay isolated and wear masks everywhere. I know the importance of this and the purpose, but we couldn’t just live in fear and never get out and live our lives. We did not have to be around people all the time but get out take a hike, go to the park etc. do stuff to keep going! My Nana, who was my person and we were the best of friends, kept telling me I should make shirts with that and start my own business with Live Your Life! I was only 13 years old what did I know about that?  I just laughed it off and just kept telling people to LIVE YOUR LIFE, you have to keep doing the things you love! We can’t live in fear!

My Nana was diagnosed with COVID at the beginning of September and was in ICU on a ventilator. That is when I decided then to do a fundraiser for the nurses/staff on her floor taking care of her. I created my LIVE YOUR LIFE shirts to sell and proceeds to be donated back to the Unit that was taking care of her. After several weeks her in the hospital the worst day of my life happened on September 22, 2021, we had to say Good Bye to my Nana, I lost her that day and lost a part of me as well but I knew then I would continue to live out my Nana’s dream and work on my LIVE YOUR LIFE apparel. 

I know this idea came about during COVID but it plays true to a lot of things in life today.  You can never lose light of yourself and give up or just quit! 

Live your life on your own terms by staying true to your values, making choices that align with your passions, and not letting fear or others’ expectations control you. Take responsibility for your happiness, set your own goals, and pursue what brings you meaning. Respect others, but do not seek constant approval—this is your journey.

In memory of my “Nana” and I will always remember you and the amazing times we shared, you attending every volleyball game I played, being there for me anytime and always, and the laughs, memories, stories and mostly your LOVE for me will always be a huge part of my heart! I will never forget you!
